Merlot is a French red grape variety originally from the Gironde (Bordeaux).

The history of Merlot

In Italy it is arrived in 1880, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and from there it was widespread in Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige. In these regions it has found very favorable environmental conditions, thanks to a cool climate and dark clays.

Merlot is produced in a variety of varieties. very early and needs a rich and fat soil, which retains water for a long time and avoids too sudden ripening with excessive concentrations.

Merlot grapes are vinified in red, and the wines of a not very intense ruby red color are endowed with liveliness, freshness and structure and are po&scaron ;but with an elegant, soft and velvety profile.

Merlot, widely known and cultivated all over the world, represents one of the most reliable vines in wine production.

Merlot wines are indicated for accompaniment red meat, roasts, game and semi-aged cheeses.
